Devil's Due Launches Website For 'Spooks' Comic Series

Devil's Due Launches Website For 'Spooks' Comic Series - Abominable director Ryan Shiffrin dropped us a line today informing us that Devil's Due Publishing has launched an official website for his comic book series entitled Spooks. Â"WeÂ're really jazzed about the series, which hits next month, and wanted to do something special to commemorate the launch,Â" Schifrin explains referencing the website. Â"SPOOKSÂ" is the unofficial name for the United States Department of Supernatural Defense (DOSD), a high-tech secret branch of the military that protects American borders from things that go bump in the night. And when the king of all vampires allies with the deadliest of witches, their terrorist plot unleashes an invasion of classic monsters on U.S. soil, propelling the Spooks team into action.

'Hellraiser' Delayed Why? New Writers Sought...

'Hellraiser' Delayed Why? New Writers Sought... - It's time to give the Weinstein brothers some props... I've always felt that there was a lack of heart and a lack of caring about the development of films over at Dimension. Obviously making money is their number one priority, but it's nice to hear that they're not just trying to push out product without cleaning it thoroughly. I received a call this morning in response to our news that Dimension had delayed the release of their Hellraiser remake until 2009. Apparently they weren't 100% happy with Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury's screenplay and have decided to take the film to other writers - so we're now back at square one. The French duo are still attached to helm the pic, which is great news for anyone who has seen Inside, one of my all-time favorite horror films. But like I said, it's nice to see the Weinsteins concerned about the quality of our beloved franchise. Mucho props! Until 2009...

Sundance 08 Review: UK Thriller 'Donkey Punch'

Sundance 08 Review: UK Thriller 'Donkey Punch' - Imagine a sexual experience that goes all wrong, that's what sets up the UK thriller Donkey Punch, which premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival earlier this week. "Although the film is technically superb, its inherent flaw comes in the slow-paced script where the characters are faceless and the exciting events come too little, too late. ThereÂ's also nothing original or all that exciting that happens in the film other than a drug induced sex orgy that results in a girl being donkey punched in the back of her neck." Sundance 08 Review: Sean Ellis' 'The Broken' - Going into Sundance the one film I was looking forward to more than anything was Sean Ellis' psychological-thriller The Broken, which had it's world premiere this past week. Did it live up to expectations? The short answer is yes, but the finale sort of left a bad taste in my mouth, "If the finale wasnÂ't so (unfortunately) forced this could have been the film to beat, but the ending is so incredibly Â"out thereÂ" that itÂ's sure to piss off 99% of the people who see it – and my mother always told me that the last thing you want to do is leave on a bad note." We learned from a well-trusted insider that the brilliant Paul Thomas Anderson - who is looking like a solid contender for an Oscar with his astounding film There Will Be Blood - is seriously contemplating making his next project a HORROR film. Sundance 08 Review: Brad Anderson's 'Transsiberian'

Sundance 08 Review: Brad Anderson's 'Transsiberian' - We still have a few more reviews coming at you from this year's Sundance Film Festival, which runs for another few days in Park City, Utah. Today we added our official review of Brad Anderson's Transsiberian, which I found pretty disappointing. "TRANSSIBERIAN is an ambitious effort that needs some reworking and a good 20-minutes cut from itÂ… specifically in the first hour where nothing happens. As much as I didnÂ't hate the film I didnÂ't love it either. AndersonÂ's latest is your run of the mill thriller that just doesnÂ't attempt to step over the line at any point. IÂ'd rather revisit classic from the past – like HitchcockÂ's STRANGERS ON A TRAIN - than ever sit through this again." Click the title above for the full review or here for all reviews.

Mr. Disgusting Reviews 'Cloverfield', Won't Shut Up About It!! - Let the mega hype begin! It's rare when I'm still excited to talk about the film by the time it hits theaters, usually I'm so warn out from unloading new stills, trailers, posters and all the other little pieces of news that by the time the movie comes out I'm ready to blow my brains out. But that's not the case with Paramount's Cloverfield, which is still the only thought in my one track mind. Last night Slice and I caught a screening here in LA and both of us were blown away (surprisingly). Right now both my review and Slice's review are both live, with two more review coming this week. Are we going overboard? Probably, but when I love something I'm going to push it in everyone's face.

'Day Of The Dead' Remake Trailer Live Now!

'Day Of The Dead' Remake Trailer Live Now! - Inside you can now check out a whole new piece of material to swear about regarding the Day Of The Dead remake... the trailer! I've seen the film, and while it's not exactly a classic, it's pretty fun and has some great zombie gags. And it's definitely better than Contagium, NOTLD 3D... etc. Cut it some slack! The DVD hits on April 8th (not theaters as Myspace is claiming). The plot concerns zombies and the military but otherwise is a wholly different version of Romero's 1985 original.
