B-D Chats With Director of Bloody 'Frontier(s)' - To go along with the old news floating around the web that After Dark Films will release the French horror film Frontier(s) (review) unrated or NC-17 in 2008, we've just posed an exclusive interview with director Xavier Gens at BDTV. Click the title above for trailers and stills. While an extreme right-wing candidate advances to the second ballot of the presidential election, a group of young armed robbers holes up in a backwoods inn. The inn is located in an old mining wasteland, and its managers are a particularly sordid lot (to wit, (neo-)Nazi cannibals).

Ghost House Acquires New Zealand's 'The Tattooist' - If there's one film I'm super curious about at this year's American Film Market, it's The Tattooist, which was just acquired by Ghost House Pictures for US distribution. Back to Square One For Plissken's 'Escape From New York'

Back to Square One For Plissken's 'Escape From New York' - In quite possibly one of the dumbest remakes on the block, things have taken a turn for the worst - or maybe better depending how you look at it. Before they shot a frame of film, Gerard Butler escaped Escape From New York, the remake of the John Carpenter film, according to Variety. Right after his turn as the Spartan in "300," Butler made a deal to play Snake Plissken in a film bought at auction by New Line. He left for creative differences. New Line is persevering: studio has brought Jonathan Mostow in to rewrite, with an option to direct. Thank God... no Brett Ratner AND they're re-writing the script. From what we heard the last draft was identical to the original, making it completely useless. Good riddance to this crap.

'Poltergeist' Remake Update... I'm Super Serious! - Forget that stupid, half-working fan site that's always dissing us for covering this remake, but I assure you all that THIS REMAKE WILL HAPPEN no matter what some moron writes on his blog. Watch for any updates as we'll keep you posted. In Tobe Hooper's film a young family are visited by ghosts in their home. Jim Caviezel, Claudia Karvan to Topline Blanks' 'Long Weekend'

Jim Caviezel, Claudia Karvan to Topline Blanks' 'Long Weekend' - Jim Caviezel (Outlander) and Claudia Karvan (Daybreakers) will star in the suspense thriller Long Weekend for Arclight Films, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Jamie Blanks (Storm Warning) will direct from a script by Everett de Roche. Based on the 1978 Australian thriller of the same name, the story concerns a young couple on a camping trip who callously disregard the local environment, firing guns and wounding wildlife, until the wildlife starts to hit back. The 1978 version starred John Hargreaves and Briony Behets and was directed by Colin Eggleston. "The original film was a great example of a classic chiller and was acclaimed by audiences and critics alike," Arclight head Gary Hamilton said. "We think the time is right to make this new film and that it will have a huge appeal to audiences worldwide." Principal photography is scheduled to begin in Australia in mid-November.
