John Cusack Gets Revenge in 'The Factory' - Dark Castle isn't finished this evening as John Cusack (1408) has signed on to star in The Factory, a psychological thriller for Dark Castle to be distributed by Warner Bros. Morgan O'Neill, a winner of the Australian "Project Greenlight," co-wrote the script and is directing the feature. Cusack will play an obsessed cop who, with his partner, is on the trail of a serial killer prowling the streets of Buffalo, N.Y. When his teenage daughter disappears, the cop drops any professional restraint and goes all out to get the killer. O'Neill wrote "Factory" with Paul Leyden, an Australian actor who starred in "As the World Turns" and "LAX." The movie is slated to go before cameras in January.

First Official Casting For Dimension's 'Scary Movie 5' - Sophie Monk will star opposite Anna Faris in Dimension Films' Scary Movie 5, according to the Herald Sun via Moviehole.net. Monk (Sex and Death 101) will play Cindy CampbellÂ's (Anna Faris) evil twin sister in the movie. Producers of the fifth film are said to be also in talks with Hulk Hogan about playing a part. There's speculation on my behalf, but UA = Tom Cruise, right? Might we be seeing Tom Cruise back as the Vampire Lestat? That would be pretty good stuff." Fox Announces March Release Date For 'Shutter' Remake - Today 20th Century Fox announced a March 21, 2008 release date for Shutter, a remake of one of the best Asian horror films I have ever seen. The original, one of the highest-grossing films in Thai history, follows a young photog and his girlfriend who find mysterious shadows in his photographs that may be tied to their involvement in a hit-and-run accident. Masayuki Ochiai directed the remake, whioch stars Rachael Taylor, Joshua Jackson, David Denman, James Kyson Lee and John Hensley.

The director tells the site that he won't be behind the camera this time around, but has been involved in the writing process. Shawn Wayans Talks 'The Munsters', Film Rating... - A film that has been off our radar for quite sometime is the Wayan's brothers feature film starring The Munsters, which we were assuming might be dead - we were wrong. In a recent interview with Shawn Wayans over at Movie Picture Film he acknowledges the film by explaining the film's rating, "The Munsters' is going to be PG-13 as well," continuing, "You know what happened with the rated R thing is that we were doing our rated R comedies and then they started clamping down on kids going into the theater. So kids would still be sneaking into our movie but would be paying to see something else. So none of the box office went to our movie, yet everyone still saw it. George A. Romero Presents ... Deadtime Stories, Now Filming!

George A. Romero Presents ... Deadtime Stories, Now Filming! - The creator of the movie "Night of the Living Dead" will partner with a writer-actor from Connellsville to film a horror anthology in Fayette County, according to CBS (thanks to 'Capt Howdy' for sending in the story). Pittsburgh-based filmmaker George Romero is collaborating with Jeff Monahan to make George A. Romero Presents ... Deadtime Stories. Monahan has appeared in the films "Lone Star" and Romero's "Bruiser." He says each installment of the anthology will consist of three stories and will be suitable for a DVD or cable TV release. Filming of the first story, "Dust," is scheduled to begin today at the Penn State campus in Fayette County, as well as at a house and graveyard in Connellsville. The second story, "On Sabbath Hill," is to be shot the following week in Uniontown and at Seton Hill University in Greensburg.

Universal Pictures completely ripped off Darren Lynn Bousman's project and is fighting dirty, so we're picking sides. Take a look at the casting for Mambohere and chuckle at their cast and ridiculous $60 million budget. Did you do it? Good. Lionsgate's Repo! The Genetic Opera (trailer) is now in post-production and features one of the coolest casts ever assembled... and it just got better. We learned exclusively tonight that rocker Joan Jett even makes a cameo! Add her to the list of Alexa Vega, Bill Moseley, Paul Sorvino, Paris Hilton, Nivek Ogre, Anthony Stewart, Terrance Zdunich and Sarah Brightman... you get insanity. Now all we can do is wait until April to see how this massive experiment turns out. I'm all for creativity, so count me in.

More Casting For 'Cirque du Freak' Lensing This January - Josh Hutcherson and Chris Kelly have joined John C. Reilly in Paul Weitz's Cirque du Freak, which begins filming this January in Los Angeles, CA. In the film Reilly will play a vampire who drafts a 14-year old to serve as his assistant. The youth is turned into a half-vampire and becomes the catalyst in a battle between vampires and the rival Vampanese. The studio bought rights in 2005 to a series of 12 books.

Loads of Names Join 'the Lodger' Remake for Stage 6 - On the heel of yesterday's casting of Simon Baker, IONCinema announced today that Shane West (The Stone House), Phillip Baker Hall (The Amityville Horror), Rebecca Pidgeon (Edmond), Rachel Leigh Cook (She's All That) and Mel Harris have been cast in Sony Stage 6's remake of Alfred Hitchcock's The Lodger. Norwegian Horror 'Cold Prey' Gets Limited Theatrical - I really don't understand the point of all of these limited releases, unless of course they're talking one or two theaters, but usually the films end up in more than 100. But whatever, it's not my money going into the pooper. Today Leomax Entertainment announced that they have acquired North American rights to the awesome Norwegian psychological horror film Cold Prey (teaser, trailer) from Sweden's AB Svensk Filmindustri. TV: 'Dexter' Breaks Records, Why Aren't You Watching? - You haven't seen Showtime's Dexter yet? You have no idea what you're missing... at least there are a million people out there who know what's quality programming as "Dexter" broke Showtime's records this past Sunday. The hollywood Reporter reports that the serial killer drama starring Michael C. Hall drew 1.23 million viewers at 9 p.m. and a total of 1.63 million for the 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. runs. This marks the most-watched episode ever for a Showtime series, with the 1.23 million single-airing haul surpassing the previous record of "Soul Food," which drew 1.21 million in 2004. Sunday night's episode of "Dexter" also grew an impressive 41% from the previous week. "Dexter's" surge also lifted its lead-out series, the sophomore drama "Brotherhood," which averaged 651,000 viewers at 10 p.m. and another 110,000 at midnight -- the largest audience ever for the critically praised series and up 47% from the previous week.

New Warner Bros. Film 'Orphan' Begins Casting - Casting has begun on a new Warner Bros. film entitled Orphan, which will be shooting this December in Toronto and Montreal, Canada. The film, which will be produced by Joel Silver, is about Kate Coleman, a Young mother devastated by the loss of a baby, (and her resulting inability to conceive more children), and decides-along with her husband, John to fill the empty space in their broken hearts by adopting another child. Lionsgate Announces 'Saw IV' for January - Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced Saw IV (review) on DVD, which stars Tobin Bell, Scott Patterson, and Betsy Russell. The Darren Lynn Bousman directed horror will be available to in seperate rated and unrated editions on January 22, according to DVD Active. Each will retail at around $29.95. Myriad is releasing the film uncut in limited theaters February of '08 with a DVD release later next year. The film centers on a young American art student, Sarah, who "unwittingly opens an ancient urn that unleashes the demonic power of the world's most powerful witch. Daeg Faerch Auditions For Role in 'Near Dark' Remake - Bloody-Disgusting learned of some interesting news at the HorrorHound Weekend this Saturday, which took place in Indianapolis, Indiana. Horror fav Daeg Faerch (Halloween) tells B-D that he is up for a role in Platinum Dunes' Near Dark remake, where he would play "Homer" (originated by Joshua John Miller in the original). Now, just to be clear, he has NOT been cast as of yet and is trying to get the role. My verdict? I give it a thumbs up! Good casting if you ask me. Like the 1987 original by Kathryn Bigelow, the remake centers on a young man who reluctantly joins a traveling "family" of evil vampires after the girl he tried to seduce bites him and turns him into one.

'Storm Warning' Confirmed For February 5th Release - We've confirmed reports that Jamie Blanks Storm Warning will be arriving on DVD February 5 from Dimension Extreme and Genius Products. McG Confirmed to Direct 'Terminator Salvation' - JoBlo confirmed this weekend earlier reports from October 2 (here) that McG will in fact direct Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, which will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. Written by John Brancato and Michael Ferris, Â"Terminator 4Â" will revolve around a thirty-something John Connor doing battle with the endoskeleton robots in the future. 'Right At Your Door' Gets January 29 Release - Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced the DVD release of Right at Your Door (review), which stars Mary McCormack, and Rory Cochrane. DVD Active reports that the film will be available to own on January 29th, and should retail at around $27.98. The film itself will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with English Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo Surround tracks. 'I Am Legend' Ending Reshot? That's What Warner Bros. Says! - Warner Bros. confirmed to CHUD that the ending was reshot fro the Will Smith starrer I Am Legend, which hits theaters December 14. What's not confirmed is what has been reshot. Their source tells them that the ending was redone, as the studio wasn't happy with the finale that director Francis Lawrence had. Robert Neville (Will Smith) is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurableÂ…and manmade. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York CityÂ…and maybe the world.

Deon Taylor is directing off of his own screenplay. We were also told the film is the beginning to a potential franchise (obviously how well it performs matters). Smith has starred in various horror films such as The Hills Have Eyes, The Hills Have Eyes 2, A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child and Monster Man, along with a zillion TV shows. Kristen Stewart to Topline Summit's 'Twilight' - Kristen Stewart (The Messengers) will star in Summit Entertainment's Twilight, a vampire thriller-romance based on Stephenie Meyer's best-seller. Catherine Hardwicke is directing from a script by Melissa Rosenberg. Stewart will play Bella Swan, a 17-year-old who becomes drawn to classmate Edward, who is a vampire. Their unorthodox romance puts her in physical danger when Edward's nemesis comes to town and sets his sights on Bella. "Twilight" and its sequels have topped best-seller lists at the New York Times and USA Today and has garnered legions of devoted teen?age fans. Summit is looking at the movie as a potential franchise with a Romeo and Juliet-like hook. Production begins in February.

New Line Still Working on 'Freddy vs Jason 2'

New Line Still Working on 'Freddy vs Jason 2' - A little over four years ago New Line Cinema's Freddy vs Jason took in an astounding $114 million in the box office worldwide. Since then they've been trying to get the sequel kicking and have even tried involving Ash and Michael Myers. Now that MTV, Paramount and New Line Cinema are teaming together for the Friday the 13th remake (hitting theaters February 13, 2009), New Line Cinema has renewed excitement about the franchise and has begun developing Freddy vs Jason 2 to continue to run with the hype. The details I have are extremely slim, but from my understanding there is still no script - and because of the WGA strike this means the big battle won't be coming anytime soon. I believe the studio is planning on moving on a sequel, which pits Freddy Krueger against Jason Voorhees, as soon as the strike ends, but nothing is set in stone. I guess you can say this news is a little premature, but the fact that New Line wants to get the sequel going is important in my book. It would be great to see the two go head-to-head once more right after the Friday remake hits theaters, I'm sick of waiting five years for each franchise to continue.
