'Night of the Demons' Remake FInds Writers, Director - Prodigy Entertainment is set to produce a remake of the classic '80s horror film, Night of the Demons, according to STYD. 'Attack of the Giant Leeches' Remake in Post - Hahahahah this is classic! Brent Kelly Entertainment is in post-production on ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES, a remake of the 1959 sci-fi classic, according to his official website. In the original: after local-moonshine swilling trapper Lem Sawyer sees a giant creature, people start disappearing. While searching for illegal traps Steve Benton and Nan Greyson, his girl-friend find Lem dying with giant sucker wounds on his body. One couple Liz Walker and Cal Moulton, forced into the water by her enraged husband Dave Walker, gets taken by the leeches. When police refuse to believe Dave's story, he hangs himself. Soon after this, 2 more trappers disappear, the local Game Warden Steve Benton gets involved. He and Nan's father Dr Greyson realize that the people were taken by the leeches and the leeches live in caves under the swamp. Using dynamite, the 4 missing bodies are discovered and the leeches are destroyed.

Jonathan Rhys Meyer Confirmed For 'Shelter' - Variety confirmed our breaking news that Jonathan Rhys Meyers is looking for Shelter opposite Julianne Moore in a supernatural horror thriller being produced by Nala Films. "Shelter," based on a script by Michael Cooney ("Identity"), will be directed by the Swedish duo Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein ("Storm"). Lensing starts in late March in Pittsburgh. While they're trying to keep the project top secret, we discovered that the film follows a female forensic psychiatrist who specializes in debunking multiple personality disorder. First Stills From 'Beyond the Grave' - Lockheart Filmes, in association with V2 Cinema, is at work on the set of Brazilian horror-fantasy feature BEYOND THE GRAVE (aka PORTO DOS MORTOS) since February 14. Writer and director Davi de Oliveira Pinheiro (who's also producing with Isidoro B. Guggiana) and crew are currently filming in the city of Porto Alegre. The principal photography is expected to end March 4. "BEYOND THE GRAVE is gradually becoming organic as a movie should be. Now it has its own life. It's very much alive", says the director. Bret Easton Ellis Heads to 'Downer's Grove,' Illinois - Wow this one hits close to home as author Bret Easton Ellis has signed on to adapt the novel Downers Grove for the big screen. Written by Michael Hornburg, "Downers" centers on Chrissie Swanson, a paranoid high school senior for whom graduating has become a matter of life or death. The film takes place at Downer's Grove high School in Illinois, right where I grew up. The synopsis is short but inside you can find a longer one thanks to Amazon. Ellis, whose novels "American Psycho,""The Rules of Attraction" and "Less Than Zero" have been adapted for the big screen, has his sixth novel, "Lunar Park," in development as a feature film with Palm Star Pictures. His novel "The Informers," which inspired the film adaptation.

New Paranormal Thriller 'The Beacon' - Teri Polo has been tapped to star in the indie The Beacon. David Rees Snell ("The Shield"), Michael Urie ("Ugly Betty") and Michael Ironside ("ER") co-star in the paranormal thriller, written and directed by Michael Stokes. The movie, produced by Sally Helppie, centers on Bryn (Polo), a thirtysomething woman grieving over the loss of her 4-year-old son. Along with her college professor and author husband (Snell), Bryn moves into the charming old Beacon Apartments. There, she begins to see a boy who died in a fall down the Beacon's elevator shaft while trying to escape his abusive father. With the help of an eccentric young professor (Urie), Bryn tries to save the boy's spirit. Ironside plays a tough career cop who has adopted the residents. Production on the film started this week in Dallas.

'Final Destination 4' Full Casting Announced! - After breaking the first casting news the other day, New Line Cinema has responded by finally releasing five more names from the cast of David Ellis' Final Destination 4, which will be shot in HD 3-D. Joining Nick Zano is Krista Allen (Feast), Andy Fiscella (Quarantine), Bobby Campo (Vampire Bats), Shantel VanSanten and Haley Webb. The story kicks off when a teenager's premonition of a deadly racecar crash spares his life and those of a few lucky others. But death continues to stalk those who escaped it. The budget is reported at $43 million with principal photography begins this month in New Orleans.

Matrix Style Ass Kicking Coming For 'The Wolfman' - Hugo Weaving (pictured inside) will join Benicio Del Toro and Emily Blunt in Universal's upcoming redo of The Wolfman. Weaving, best known for his appearances in "The Matrix" movies, will play Det. Aberline. Del Toro will play the hirsute title character and Anthony Hopkins his dad. Blunt has been cast as the female lead in the project, which Joe Johnston will direct. Lensing begins next month in London. David Self did a rewrite of Andrew Kevin Walker's script. The remake is slated for a February 13, 2009 release.

'Curve' Shifts to Scatter, No Word on Mendes - Scatter Light Prods. has picked up Curve, a woman-in-jeopardy thriller from Kimberly Lofstrom Johnson that once had Eva Mendez set to topline with Charles Stone at the helm. The story centers on a woman who offers a ride to a good Samaritan after he helps her fix her car. When the man tries to attack her, she attempts an emergency maneuver that lands her trapped in her car in a ravine, with the man waiting for her to weaken. Flaherty, a one-time employee of Benderspink, found the script when its option at Original Films lapsed. He brought it to his mentors, who then set it up with Scatter Light, a new production and financing entity that aims to make movies in the $5 million-$10 million range. "Curve" will be the company's first project. No word on if Mendes or Stone are still attached.

Hell hath no fury like a nurse scorned in this gruesome but witty horror story from Thailand. Dr. Tah (Vichaya Jarujinda) is a charming but devious surgeon who has a profitable side business supplying black market dealers with fresh human organs for transplant. Dr. Tah's staff of alluring nurses help him find a steady source of victims, but one of his aides, Tahwan (Chol Wajananont), is shocked to find that her sister Nook is on the doctor's list of upcoming cases, and threatens to turn him in to the police. Dr. Tah puts Tahwan under the knife to keep her quiet, and she conveniently dies during surgery. But a few days later, as Dr. Tah is receiving an award for his work saving lives, the ghost of Tahwan begins stalking the halls of the hospital, and she seeks violent revenge against the doctor and her fellow nurses who failed to come to her rescue.

Toy Fair: Figures Based on Japanese Horror 'Death Note' - At this past weekend's Toy Fair in New York, Jun Planning also revealed figures based on the popular Japanese franchise, Death Note, which look pretty damn cool. Right now three figures will be available, read on for a look. The story follows the mysterious "L" and others as they try to catch cool and brainy high school student Raito Yagami (Fujiwara), who has come into possession of a notebook that allows him to summon a murderous demon simply by writing the name of his intended victim. Although Raito is aware that killing is wrong, he strongly believes that the violent crimes he perpetrates are justified because "evildoers must die in order to create a better society."
